This document provides a chronological history and analysis of the growth of advocacy within the Canadian Grandmothers movement (2006-2011). It also represents a rare opportunity for a grassroots volunteer organization to celebrate 5 years of growth and learning by sharing its beginnings, the building blocks that nurtured its growth and some of the lessons learned along the way. Thus, it informs both the grandmothers movement and other organizations who strive to engage, nurture and sustain movements for social justice that involve older women.
